Reliever Jeremy Jeffress joins Herd

Righty made Blue Jays Opening Day Roster

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that RHP JEREMY JEFFRESS has been promoted to the Herd from Single-A Dunedin of the Florida State League. He is active for tonight's game against the Louisville Bats (7:05 p.m.) and will wear #38.

Jeffress, 25, was on the Blue Jays Opening Day roster and pitched in one game with Toronto (1.0 IP, H, R, 2 BB, SO). He was then designated for assignment on April 6 and joined Dunedin upon clearing waivers. In three games with Dunedin, the reliever has allowed just one hit over 5.0 scoreless innings.

Jeffress was acquired by Toronto in a trade with the Kansas City Royals on November 8, 2012. He pitched 37 games for the Triple-A Omaha Storm last year and was 5-4 with a 4.97 ERA and two saves (58.0 IP, 61 SO). He also pitched in 13 games with the Royals last year with a 6.75 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 13.1 innings of work.
