HICKORY, NC - Columbia's scheduled doubleheader against Hickory was interrupted by rain numerous times on Saturday. After an attempt to play the first game of the twin bill, rain started falling and delayed the game in the second inning. Following a 53-minute delay, the game was officially suspended.
The game will be resumed at 1:00 ET on Sunday. When the suspended game is finished, the second game (and final game of the series) will begin no sooner than 3:00 ET. Both games will be seven innings. This means one game of the initial four-game series is now cancelled.
The game was suspended with two Crawdads runners on base and no one out in the bottom of the second. The score is 0-0.
This was the second delay of the afternoon. The game was scheduled to start at 4:00 ET, but was delayed 80 minutes because of rain.
Remember, when the series concludes in Hickory, the Fireflies return home on Monday to begin a seven-game homestand. Columbia first hosts Asheville from Monday to Wednesday before taking on Lexington for four games from Thursday through Sunday. Some highlights include:
