Radio Broadcasts Remain on AM 960

All 140 games, both home and road games, to air live
February 1, 2013
Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds, class "A" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are excited to announce that Shorebirds radio broadcasts will remain on AM 960 WTGM for a ninth straight season. Shorebirds radio broadcaster Bret Lasky will return for his fifth season behind the microphone.

All 140 regular season games, both home and away games, will be broadcast on AM 960 in 2013. Although the programming on the station is no longer sports, the Shorebirds are remaining consistent with our presence on AM 960 because of the strong signal strength.

"Our fans have become accustomed to tuning AM 960 at 7:00pm during the spring and summer and we thought it made most sense to keep the consistency," said Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters. "The broadcasts give our fans, both on the Eastern Shore and out of the area, the chance to stay up-to-date on the team every night."

Lasky, the 2012 South Atlantic League Media Relations Director of the Year, has broadcast every Shorebirds game since the 2010 season. He started with the team in 2009 as the road radio broadcaster before taking over the broadcasts of all games in 2010. During the off season, the Queens, New York native is also the voice of University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's and women's basketball. His broadcast career launched while at the University of Maryland at WMUC, the student radio station. Prior to joining the Shorebirds, Lasky spent one season on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Advanced-A, Rangers) radio broadcasts.

"I look forward to delivering a high quality and informative broadcast to our diverse fan base this year," said Bret Lasky. "Randy Scott and his team at AM 960 WTGM do a great job by allowing us to deliver our message up and down the Eastern Shore."

Each broadcast will begin 15-minutes before first pitch with "Shorebirds On Deck", the pregame show. Following the final out, stay tuned for a complete recap during a 10-minute postgame show.

"The Shorebirds have been a constant on AM 960 since 2005 and we are proud to continue to air their games in 2013," said Comedy 960 Program Director Randy Scott. "Plus with Comedy 960, rain delays will be a lot more entertaining!"

Lasky will begin his fifth year behind the microphone with the broadcast of the Shorebirds exhibition game against Salisbury University on April 2. The Shorebirds open the season in earnest on April 4 against the Hagerstown Suns.
