GreenJackets Beat Drive in Opening Game of the Series, 4-1

Augusta, GA--The Augusta GreenJackets (14-14) started their series with a win against the Greenville Drive (14-11), Friday night, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. The GreenJackets beat the Drive 4-1. 

The GreenJackets had a strong start against the Drive's starting pitcher, Ty Buttrey (0-1). In his first start on the Greenville Drive roster, Buttrey gave up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Three singles and two fielding errors by the Greenvilles' defense led to the GreenJackets four runs. 

Carlos Diaz (3-2) earned the win for the GreenJackets. In his longest outing to date, Diaz pitched seven innings, gave up four hits and one run. A single and a double drove in the lone run, for the Drive, in the fourth inning.

Jake Smith and Ray Montero were the GreenJackets relief pitchers of the night. Together they pitched two innings, had one hit and struck out three. The game ended on a double play by shortstop Ryder Jones, second baseman Christian Arroyo, and first baseman Ryan Tuntland. 

Game two of the series continues Saturday, May 3rd, at Lake Olmstead Stadium. It's Pink in the Park Night! The first 1,000 fans into the stadium will receive a FREE hat courtesy of GRHealth. It's also Family Fun Night at the stadium presented American Family Insurance. GreenJackets LHP Matt Lujan (3-1 2.19) will make the start against Greenvilles's LHP Trey Ball (1-0, 5.40).
