Columbia, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets won their first game of the season on Saturday night in a soggy contest. The rain didn't stop the GreenJackets from getting the 6-2 win over the Columbia Fireflies. The game was the product of the GreenJackets playing well in all phases of the game.

In the first, Heliot Ramos started the game with a long triple off the center field wall. The next at bat, Orlan-do Garcia had a sacrifice fly to get the GreenJackets on the board. Manuel Geraldo, John Riley, and Ryan Kirby also added RBIs for the GreenJackets in the 7th and 8th innings. In the ninth, with the GreenJackets up 4-2, Malique Zeigler had a clutch two out single that scored two more insurance runs. That all but ended the Fireflies hopes of victory.

For the pitching, it was John Gavin's time to shine as the rain poured down. Gavin threw 4 2/3 scoreless in-nings, only giving up two hits. Then the ball was giving to Gettman who pitched a solid two innings only giving up two hits and one run. Gettman would go on to get the win, while Olbis Parra was brought in for the save.

The GreenJackets were also aggressive on the bases. Logan Baldwin had two stolen bases, while Ziegler and Riley both added one of their own. This is no surprise as Manager Jolbert Cabrera is known for taking risks with his base runners.

The GreenJackets look to continue their good play tomorrow afternoon as they try to tie the four game series with the Fireflies at 2 pm.
