Harrisburg Senators 2016 Promotional Schedule

Three Bobblehead Giveaways and the Return of Flatscreen Fridays Highlight Schedule
February 10, 2016

Last season the Senators drew 301,588 fans to the ballpark, setting an all-time Senators record. This season the Senators are looking to improve upon their all-time attendance record by bringing even more entertainment and excitement to City Island. Today the Senators announce their 2016 promotional calendar for their 30th Season in Harrisburg. From Fireworks to Flatscreens to Bobbleheads, and to the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, there is something for everyone in the family this season.

Once again this season, the Senators are teaming with Hersheypark to provide one of the biggest giveaways in team history. On Saturday, April 30, the first 2,000 youngsters twelve and under will receive a free Hersheypark pass good through end of June.

Returning in 2016 is the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo. The monkeys riding dogs herding sheep show will entertain fans twice this year with the first visit Thursday, May 5 and the second visit Thursday, July 21. This is something you have to see to believe. It's one of the most popular promotions in Harrisburg. The Cowboy Monkey Rodeo has entertained fans during NFL games and been featured on ESPN.

In addition to the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, the Senators will have nine special appearances in 2016. On May 14, Birdzerk! will entertain fans with his zany skits. The ZOOperstars! stop by the ballpark on May 15 and August 12 and will bring their usual cast of characters. On July 7 Senators fans will be treated to the elasticity of Rubber Boy as he contorts his way into different positions that will amaze you. Bucket Ruckus is back for a second straight year and providing their unique brand of entertainment on June 10 and June 11. On August 6 the Fur Circus will entertain fans young and old. The Washington Nationals' Racing Presidents make a return trip to Harrisburg on June 17. These famous gentlemen have a great time racing with the Senators' Monkeys.

"We're really excited about the things we are going to be able to bring to our fans this year," said Senators president Kevin Kulp. "These special event nights in addition to all the cool nightly things we are going to be doing should be really fun! I can't wait to get the season started!"

The biggest of the eight special appearances happens on Thursday, June 2 as Richard Karn, from Home Improvement, makes his way to Harrisburg from Hollywood. He highlights a special Home Improvement Night which will see the Senators wear special "Al Borland" jerseys and fans will have the opportunity to meet Richard Karn.

Twenty-two Senators games feature giveaways, with every Saturday being a giveaway day. Along with classic giveaways such as Caps, T-Shirts, and Baseballs, there is a trio of bobblehead giveaways scheduled for this season (April 19, July 9, and August 13). The Senators are again highlighting their Christmas in July with an Anthony Rendon Mayfly Globe Giveaway on July 24. A complete list of the promotional schedule including the giveaways is listed below.

"Our giveaways this season feature a great range of fan favorites that we hope will be a big hit with our fans," said Senators assistant general manager in charge of game entertainment Aaron Margolis. "We are thrilled to be giving away youth baseball bats for the first time in over five years."

"At every game, we try to create an exceptional atmosphere to enjoy time with friends and family in addition to the game on the field," said Margolis. "As we celebrate thirty seasons on City Island, we wanted to create a promotional schedule that provides fans a great time with each visit to the ballpark."

Coming back this year is the popular Fireworks and Flatscreens Friday nights. Every Friday home game this year three lucky fans will win a 32" Flatscreen TV. Every fan 18 and over will be allowed to enter the drawing to take a Flatscreen TV home with them on the night of the game!

If you're a fan of special jerseys, you'll be thrilled this year as the Senators are wearing special jerseys for five games. In honor of their 30th season, the Senators will be wearing retro-style jerseys during select games during the 2016 campaign. This season's roster of Special jerseys include: Family Game Night jerseys (Saturday, May 14), Al Borland inspired Home Improvement Night jerseys (Thursday, June 2), Star Wars jerseys (Saturday, July 23), Pet Jerseys featuring photographs of YOUR pets (Saturday, August 6), and Pink Jerseys (Saturday, September 3). All of these jerseys will also be raffled off and auctioned off the night of the game, with the proceeds going to charity.

As previously mentioned, the Senators will once again have a postgame Fireworks show every Friday night plus two more shows, with one on July 4 and the other on Saturday, July 23 giving fans thirteen opportunities to see a fabulous Fireworks show. On Friday, May 20 The Big Boom! which promises to be the largest in team history.

The 2016 season also brings with it some special, fun nights beginning with Saturday, April 30 and our Halfway to Halloween night. Just like with Halloween, there will be surprises for kids of all ages and trick or treating for kids of the appropriate age. We'll celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 5 and the Armed Forces on May 21. On May 22 we'll have our own derby, a Diaper Derby so bring your little ones for a chance to win a great prize package! On July 24 the Senators will be celebrating Christmas in July which is always a popular night to be at the ballpark.

On Sunday, August 7 the Senators are hosting Alpacas for the first time. Yes, that's right, Alpacas. There will be a petting zoo, a pregame Alpaca parade around the warning track and during the game there will be Alpaca racing through their obstacle course on the back concourse. You'll have to see this to believe it!

The Senators again this year have two special nights for the ladies. The first is Thursday, August 18 with the Diamond Dig. The second is the Senators annual Pink Night which is the final Saturday of the regular season, September 3

Youth baseball and softball players and scouts get their own nights in 2016. On Monday, June 13 all youth baseball and softball players that wear their uniforms to the ballpark get in free! The Senators annual Scout Night sleepover will be on Saturday, July 9. After the game Scouts will get to pitch a tent on the field for a sleepover, a movie, and breakfast in the morning. What a great way to spend the weekend!

Fridays this year not only have Fireworks and Flatscreens but also will be feature a pregame Boardwalk Bash. The gates to the entrance area and the left field boardwalk area will open at 5:00 p.m. and fans will have the opportunity to listen to live music and relax while watching batting practice. At 6:00 p.m., fans will be allowed into all areas of the ballpark.

Speaking of gates opening, the ballpark will open an hour before game time to fans Sunday through Thursday, and on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Season ticket holders are always allowed in 15 minutes prior to general gate opening.

As previously released, the Senators will play three additional games at home this year, though they'll be the visiting team. The Hartford Yard Goats and Senators play a three-game series on City Island April 26, 27 and 28. On Tuesday, April 26 fans will have the opportunity to name their own ticket price. The minimum amount a fan can name is $1. This excludes the PinnacleHealth CARES suite level, Sutliff Dugout Suites and the club seats.
