Hit Parade Leads Senators Past Akron to Even Series

The Harrisburg Senators (39-34) knocked off the Akron RubberDucks (42-32) 12-2 Saturday night at Canal Park. The Senators scored eight runs over the final three innings to pull away from the 'Ducks and even the series.

The Senators opened the scoring with four runs in the third. After Zach Collier and Carter Kieboom reached on a walk and single, Dan Gamache, Jake Noll and Drew Ward knocked three consecutive RBI singles to put the club ahead 3-0. Taylor Gushue capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center to make it 4-0 Senators. 
Connor Marabell singled in Willi Castro in the fourth to put Akron on the board. 
The Senators rallied for four more runs in the seventh to break the game open. With the bases loaded and one out, Ward hit into a run scoring fielder's choice which allowed a run to score, while Ward reached on the play on a throwing error by first baseman Bobby Bradley. The next batter, Taylor Gushue, doubled to left which plated another pair. Later in the frame, reliever Mitch Brown issued a bases loaded walk to Adam Brett Walker which scored the final run of the frame. 
The 'Ducks plated a run in the seventh when Marabell tripled and was singled in by Mark Mathias. 
Harrisburg scored another pair of runs in the eighth on a run scoring fielder's choice by Gushue and RBI single by Austin Davidson. Dan Gamache finished the scoring in the ninth with a two-run single to make it 12-2 Senators, which would be the final score. 
Senators starter Tyler Mapes (1-0) worked six innings of one run ball, limiting the 'Ducks to four hits and a walk while striking out six in his first start with the Senators since 2016. 
Akron starter Triston Mckenzie (1-2) surrendered four runs on eight hits in four and two-thirds innings.
Gamache paced the Senators with three RBI on three hits while also scoring three runs. Kieboom also finished with three hits, as he is now 6-15 with the Senators this season. Gushue went 1-5 with a double and four RBI, his second game this season where he's driven in four runs. Eight of the nine Senators finished with at least one hits while six of the nine had multiple hits. 15 of the 16 hits by the Senators were singles.
