Sens Can't Derail Curve in 3-2 Loss

The Altoona Curve edged the Harrisburg Senators 3-2 Wednesday night at PNG Field. Drew Ward hit his team-leading 11th home run in the loss. 

The Altoona Curve edged the Harrisburg Senators 3-2 Wednesday night at PNG Field. Drew Ward hit his team-leading 11th home run in the loss. 

After the Curve took a 1-0 lead in the second, Drew Ward tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run to right, his 11th of the season and second in as many games. 
Wil Craig gave Altoona the lead in the fourth by knocking a two-run home run to center to put the team on top 3-1.
Senators starting pitcher Joe Ross (0-1), in his first rehab start with the team, allowed three runs on four hits while striking out six and without walking a batter through five innings. 
The Senators cut the lead to one in the seventh. After back-to-back singles by Ward and Zach Collier, Osvaldo Abreu grounded a run-scoring single into center to the bring the Senators within a run. 
Ward knocked a single in the ninth, his third hit of the night, to put the tying on base, however Matt Eckelman was able to retire the side without the run scoring to seal the 3-2 win and notch his ninth save.
Altoona starting pitcher Luis Escobar (4-0) worked six and a third innings of two-run ball to earn the win.
Ward finished 3-for-4 to pace the Senators offense. Osvaldo Abreu went 2-for-3 with an RBI as he was the only the other Senator to finish with multiple hits. 
The Senators and Curve finish their two-game series Thursday night. Sterling Sharp is slated to start for the Senators against Altoona starter Cam Vieaux.
