The Indianapolis Indians welcome Native Americans to Victory Field for a night of recognition. Fans can enjoy watching a smudging ceremony, listening to traditional drum songs and exploring educational and cultural booths on the concourse.
The evening will begin with a smudging ceremony led by the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana. During this ceremony, the Miami Nation’s tribal drum will be cleansed with sage, marking a meaningful and harmonious start to the event. Traditional drum songs performed by members of the Miami Nation will follow, creating a welcoming and culturally significant atmosphere as fans arrive at Victory Field.

Beginning around 6:45 PM, the Indianapolis Indians will host a pregame ceremony recognizing the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana and their historical connection to Central Indiana. As part of this celebration, a land acknowledgment will be read before the first pitch. The Miami Nation will be honored in a special moment on the field. Final details, including the first pitch guest and any scholarships, will be confirmed closer to the date.
Guests will be able to explore educational and cultural booths on the concourse, including an exhibit from the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana. Between innings, educational facts will be displayed on the video board to provide context about Native American history and culture, particularly focused on the Eastern Woodlands tribes.
Continuing a cherished tradition, the Indians will recognize veterans of the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana during a special in-game ceremony. This tribute will honor their service to the United States Armed Forces and celebrate the ongoing connection between military service and Native communities.
