Big Day for Walton But Claws Fall 5-4 on Sunday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - TJayy Walton homered and drove in three runs but the BlueClaws fell to Hudson Valley 5-4 on Sunday from ShoreTown Ballpark as the Renegades swept their week-long series from Jersey Shore.

The BlueClaws have now lost 13 straight home games and 15 of their last 18 games overall.

Hudson Valley took the lead in the first on a three run home run by Maika Niu, his fourth home run in 13 games with the Renegades. Hudson Valley added a run in the second on an RBI single from Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek.

The BlueClaws got on the board in the fourth on TJayy Walton's first High-A home run, a blast that cut the lead to 4-2.

After Walton doubled in a run to cut the lead to 4-3, the teams exchanged runs in the seventh. Eric Genther homered off Tegan Cain in the top of the inning and the BlueClaws got that run back in the bottom of the inning on a single by Scott Mudler.

Wilmy Sanchez came on in the ninth and threw a 1-2-3 inning to close the door for the Renegades.

Walton finished the day with two hits and a home run, plus three RBIs. Robert Phelps had two hits and two stolen bases.

BlueClaws starter Brandon Beckel gave up four runs in four innings.

After an off day on Monday, the BlueClaws open a six game series with Wilmington on Tuesday.
