Cyclones Score Six in First, Top Claws 10-6 on Sunday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Chase Estep had four hits and Alex Ramirez homered as Brooklyn scored six runs in the second inning and topped the BlueClaws 10-6 on Sunday afternoon at ShoreTown Ballpark.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Chase Estep had four hits and Alex Ramirez homered as Brooklyn scored six runs in the second inning and topped the BlueClaws 10-6 on Sunday afternoon at ShoreTown Ballpark.

Despite the Sunday loss, the BlueClaws (27-23) took five of the eight games in the series with the Cyclones (22-28).

Brooklyn scored six runs in the second inning to blow open the game. Mateo Gil's two run double opened the scoring. They added two more on a double by Alex Ramirez, and two more on a home run by William Lugo, his second of the season.

All six runs were charged to starter Rafael Marcano, who took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the year. .

Brooklyn added a run in the third on an RBI single from Omar De Los Santos in the third inning.

Jersey Shore tried to get back in the game. They scored a run on an error in the third. Then in the fourth, they added two more, one on a bases loaded walk to Cristian Pache and one on a balk.

Jersey Shore got back in the game with two runs in the seventh including an RBI single from Jared Carr. They added one in the eighth on a single from Rafael Marchan and a fielding error on Omar De Los Santos in right field. They had the tying run at the plate but Marcus Lee Sang grounded out to end the inning.

Chase Estep had four hits for Brooklyn in the win.

Chase Antle threw a scoreless eighth inning in relief.

The BlueClaws are 1.5 games behind first place Hudson Valley and the Renegades come to town on Tuesday to start a six game series at 7:05 pm.
