Claws Fall 8-4 in 10 Innings on Friday Night to Hudson Valley at ShoreTown Ballpark

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Hudson Valley scored five times in the top of the 10th inning and topped the BlueClaws 8-4 on Friday night at ShoreTown Ballpark.

The BlueClaws (29-25) fell to 1.5 games back behind Hudson Valley and Greensboro who are tied atop the SAL Northern Division standings.

Hudson Valley's 10th inning plated five runs. They broke the tie on an RBI single by Ben Cowles. Then Grant Richardson's infield single scored one run with two more coming home on an error on pitcher Tristan Garnett. Eduardo Torrealba singled home a 5th run to make it 8-3. Andrick Nava singled home a run for the BlueClaws in the 10th, but it was not enough.

The BlueClaws opened the scoring in the first, getting two off starter Juan Carela. After Nick Ward was hit by a pitch, Marcus Lee Sang tripled him in. Lee Sang then scored on an Andrick Nava SAC fly.

Nava then doubled in a run in the third to put the BlueClaws up 3-0.

Gunner Mayer did not allow a run in the first three innings but the Renegades got one back in the fourth on an RBI single from Eduardo Torrealba.

Hudson Valley tied the game with two runs in the sixth of Matt Russell. Grant Richardson's RBI triple and Torrealba's SAC fly leveled the score at 3-3.

Both teams had chances later in the game with the go-ahead run at third and nobody out, but Hudson Valley couldn't score in the 8th and the BlueClaws could not score in the 9th. The game went to the 10th tied at three.

Nava had three hits and three RBIs in the loss for Jersey Shore. Rixon Wingrove added two hits for the BlueClaws. Grant Richardson had three hits as did Anthony Garcia for Hudson Valley.

The teams continue their series on Saturday at 7:05 pm. LHP Jordan Fowler starts for the BlueClaws.
