BlueClaws Score Five in Ninth, Blow Open 9-3 Tuesday Win at Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, MD - The BlueClaws scored five times in the ninth inning and blew open the game in a 9-3 win at Aberdeen on Tuesday in the first of a seven game series.

ABERDEEN, MD - The BlueClaws scored five times in the ninth inning and blew open the game in a 9-3 win at Aberdeen on Tuesday in the first of a seven game series.

The BlueClaws (18-18) get back to .500 with the win after losing a double-header on Sunday against Wilmington. They have won five of six with Aberdeen (18-20) so far this year.

Max Wagner opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run off BlueClaws starter Rafael Marcano. It was Wagner's sixth home run of the season.

The BlueClaws took the lead in the fifth on a 2-run single from Wilfredo Flores. Kendall Simmons added an RBI single to put the BlueClaws up 3-1. Aberdeen tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth, one charged to starter Rafael Marcano, and two charged to Chase Antle.

Rodolfo Sanchez (1-0) limited the damage and got through the seventh. He's thrown 14.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

Jersey Shore took the lead in the 8th on a fielder's choice grounder from Andrick Nava. They added to the lead in the ninth. Flores' SAC fly and an infield single by Kendall Simmons pushed the lead to 6-3. Caleb Ricketts then walked with the bases loaded. Nava added a two-run double for a 9-3 lead.

Casey Martin had four hits and a walk in the win while Kendall Simmons added three. Nava and Wilfredo Flores each drove in three runs.

Marcano gave up one run on two hits in five innings with one walk and one strikeout.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday with a double-header that begins at 5:05 pm.
