BlueClaws Steal Eight Bases But Fall 8-5 to Wilmington in Home Finale

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws stole eight bases and Carter Mathison homered but Wilmington spoiled the final home game in ShoreTown this year, besting the BlueClaws 8-5.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws stole eight bases and Carter Mathison homered but Wilmington spoiled the final home game in ShoreTown this year, besting the BlueClaws 8-5.

After Carter Mathison homered to tie the game at five in the bottom of the sixth, Wilmington took the lead in the seventh on an RBI double from Ronny Cruz.

Then in the ninth, they added two more off Jake Eddington to push the lead to 8-5. Tucker Biven threw a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

The Blue Rocks took four of six from the BlueClaws in the series.

Jersey Shore jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI double by Juan Villavicencio and an RBI single by Wuilfredo Antunez.

Wilmington tied it up in the second on a two run home run by Jacob Walsh, his first of two the former Oregon Duck hit in the game.

Scott Mudler singled home run in the bottom of the third to give the BlueClaws a 4-2 lead. Walsh, however, added another home run, giving him 17 home runs with the Blue Rocks, in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-3.

Wilmington then took the lead in the fifth on back to back home runs from Ronny Cruz and Yeremy Cabrera off Tanner Gresham to take a 5-4 lead.

Gresham came out after five innings, allowing five runs on five hits, four of which were home runs.

Brady Day, who extended his hitting streak to 14, and Juan Villavicencio, each had two hits for Jersey Shore.

Wuilfredo Antunez stole three while Villavicencio and Devin Saltiban each had two steals in the loss.

The BlueClaws will head to Spartanburg, South Carolina for six games with Hub City, the final games of the 2026 season.
