Jhailyn Ortiz Wins High-A East Player of the Week
JERSEY SHORE, NJ - BlueClaws OF Jhailyn Ortiz, who hit six home runs last week including two each on Saturday and Sunday, was named High-A East Player of the Week.
JERSEY SHORE, NJ - BlueClaws OF Jhailyn Ortiz, who hit six home runs last week including two each on Saturday and Sunday, was named High-A East Player of the Week.
For the week, Ortiz was 11-27 with six home runs and 12 RBIs. He drove in four runs on Friday and six more on Saturday, matching a career high previously set on May 27th.
Ortiz now has 18 home runs on the season, one off the league lead, and 66 in his career.

He became the first BlueClaw to hit two home runs in back to back games and has four two-home run games this season, also the most by a BlueClaw. Additionally, Ortiz has 12 home runs in July, tied four others for the most in Minor League Baseball.
Ortiz, a 22 year old from the Dominican Republic, is the 20th ranked prospect in the Phillies system per MLB Pipeline.
He is the second BlueClaws player to win weekly honors this year. Pitcher Kevin Gowdy was High-A East Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 27th.
The BlueClaws return home on Tuesday and will play 12 home games over the next two weeks. Brooklyn (Mets) comes to the Shore from July 27th - August 1st and Aberdeen (Orioles) makes their lone visit from August 3rd - August 8th.
