BlueClaws Storm Back; 10 Runs in 8th and Win 13-6

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws tied a team record with 10 runs in the 8th inning and stormed back beat Asheville 13-6 on Sunday at ShoreTown Ballpark. Jersey Shore took five of six in the series including the last four.

After allowing four runs in the top of the eighth to fall behind 6-3, the BlueClaws got two walks to start the bottom of the eighth. Casey Martin reached on an infield single and a run scored on a throwing error. Nick Matera then tied the game with a two run single.

After an error and a single, Carlos De La Cruz drew a bases loaded walk to put the BlueClaws ahead. After another walk to McCarthy Tatum, Nicolas Torres smashed a three-run double to put Jersey Shore up 11-6. Baron Radcliffe singled home two runs to cap the 10-run inning.

JP Woodward (2-1) was the winning pitcher while Juan Pablo Lopez (0-1) was the losing pitcher, charged with six of the 10 runs in the eighth inning.

Johan Rojas went 2-4 and scored three times. He added his 12th stolen base of the season. The BlueClaws now have 45 steals on the year, most in Minor League Baseball. Casey Martin also had two hits in the win.

De La Cruz homered in the 5th inning to put the BlueClaws up 3-2 while playing his first game of the season.

Jersey Shore starter Matt Russell gave up two runs over four innings and struck out a career high seven. Andrew Schultz threw a scoreless inning.

The BlueClaws head to Aberdeen for six games beginning Tuesday.
