LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Louisville Bats (30-25) found themselves on the losing side for the first time this home stand, falling 14-1 to the Worcester Red Sox (26-30) on Saturday night to snap a four-game winning streak.

[Box Score]

The Bats jumped on top quickly, getting on the board in the first frame after a single from Christian Encarnacion-Strand scored Elly De La Cruz from first base as a result of an electrifying display of base running from the pair.

Worcester evened the score in the third before piling on with 11 runs scored from the sixth to the eighth innings to open up a 12-1 advantage and put the game out of reach for Louisville.

With outfielder Nick Martini on the mound in the ninth for his second pitching appearance of the season, the Bats surrendered two more runs to go down 14-1, capping off the lopsided affair.

Teddy Stankiewicz turned in his best start of the 2023 campaign for the Bats, setting a new season-high with 5.0 innings pitched while allowing a single run on five hits with two walks while recording his first strikeout of the year.

First pitch for tomorrow’s series finale is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET as LHP Andrew Abbott (3-0, 3.05 ERA) will get the ball for Louisville with LHP Shane Drohan (0-1, 6.59 ERA) set to start for the WooSox.
