Bats lose third straight to Knights

LOUISVILLE, KY- The Louisville Bats (12-23) dropped game three of four against the Charlotte Knights (17-17) tonight by a score of 4-2 at Louisville Slugger Field.
The Bats started left-handed pitcher Cody Reed (0-2, 6.75). Reed threw four innings, giving up two runs, both of which were earned, three walks, and recorded two strikeouts.
The Knights started right-handed pitcher Lucas Giolito (1-5, 6.55). Giolito tossed six innings giving up two runs, both of which were earned as well, one walk, and recorded five strikeouts.
The Bats scored first in the bottom of the third inning after Dilson Herrera hit a triple and scored on the next at-bat by Hernan Iribarren's single, giving the Bats a 1-0 lead.
The Knights came back in the top of the fourth inning, scoring two of their own off a wild pitch, which allowed Adam Engel and Rymer Liriano to score from third and second base. Knights lead 2-1 after four.
The Knights added on to their lead in the sixth inning when Engel and Roberto Peña scored to extend the Knights lead to 4-2.
The Bats cut-back into the lead in the bottom half of the sixth inning after Iribarren hit a home run to deep right-center field. This cut the Knights lead to two, making it 4-2 after six.
This 4-2 lead proved to be enough for the Knights tonight to win another one against the Bats.
The Bats and Knights will be back in action tomorrow afternoon on Mother's Day with first scheduled at 2:05 p.m. The Bats are scheduled to start right-handed pitcher Rookie Davis (0-0, 0.00), while the Knights look to start right-handed pitcher Tyler Danish (1-3, 3.38).
