TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo Mud Hens erupted for eight runs on 11 hits in the bottom of the fourth inning to down the Louisville Bats 10-2 at Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night. Beau Taylor recorded the lone multi-hit game for the Bats with a pair of singles.

[BOX SCORE]

Louisville was the first to find the scoreboard on Wednesday night after Alejo Lopez coaxed a leadoff walk before Smith Jr. advanced him to third on a base hit to left field. With a runner 90 feet away, Alfredo Rodriguez delivered a sac fly to give the Bats the 1-0 lead.

However, it was all Toledo from there as the Mud Hens plated one run in the second, eight in the fourth and a final tally in the sixth.

Toledo touched up Louisville’ starter Bo Takahashi early on, launching a trio of home runs in the fourth inning. Takahashi exited after three-plus frames, allowing five runs on eight hits and a lone walk, while striking out four batters.

Taylor collected his second hit of the night on an RBI single in the sixth to set the game’s final score of 10-2.

The Bats will conclude the front half of the six-game set tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Louisville will hand the ball to LHP Reiver Sanmartin (0-1, 7.27), who is looking to earn his first win of the season, while Toledo has yet to announce a starter.
