Fightin Phils Welcome New Hampshire Fisher Cats to Baseballtown this Week

(Reading, PA) — The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, return home Tuesday to take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. The six game series kicks off Tuesday at 7 p.m. and concludes Sunday.

The first 2,000 fans at Tuesday’s game will receive an R-Phils throwback jersey T-shirt courtesy of Berks County Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities Program. Wednesday features a tribute to Disney’s “The Sandlot” with the first 2,000 kids 12 & under receiving a Hersheypark Admission Ticket. The Fightin Phils will honor Dusty Wathan, Darin Ruf and Trevor May on Thursday for their inductions into the Baseballtown Hall of Fame. As part of the festivities, the first 2,500 fans will receive a Roger Maris Baseballtown Hall of Fame Bobble Head sponsored by Feeser’s in Celebration of America’s Classic Ballpark’s 75th anniversary.

A fireworks show sponsored by Silverline Trailers - Pottstown will take place at the conclusion of Friday’s game with the Carpenter MEGA BLAST FIREWORKS — the largest fireworks show in stadium history — after Saturday night’s contest. The series concludes with a Father’s Day R-Phils Hawaiian shirt, sponsored by Redner’s Markets and Quick Stops, for the first 3,000 men 18+.

The Fightin Phils enter off a six-game road trip against the Harrisburg Senators, the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Reading went 2-4 in Harrisburg, losing four games by a combined margin of five runs. Despite two walk-off losses to start the series, the Fightin Phils won Thursday, June 5, thanks to home runs by Hendry Mendez and Leandro Pineda. Reading picked up its second win Saturday, June 7, with two home runs and three RBI for Paul McIntosh along with five scoreless innings from Will Crowe. First baseman Keaton Anthony extended his on-base streak to 24 games in the series.

The Fisher Cats are scorching hot coming into Baseballtown, winners of seven of their last 10 games. New Hampshire recently went 5-1 in their homestand against the Altoona Curve, the Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A affiliate. The Fisher Cats won the first five games of the six-game set before dropping Sunday’s contest 11-5. Their pitching staff impressively shut out the Curve for the first 37 innings of the series.

Top 30 Toronto Blue Jays prospects include second baseman Charles McAdoo, RHP Juaron Watts-Brown, outfielders Jace Bohrofen and Dasan Brown and first baseman Peyton Williams. Philadelphia Phillies No. 2 prospect Aidan Miller stars alongside No. 11 ranked Jean Cabrera and No. 25 Hendry Mendez.
