RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (6-8) traveled to Tacoma, home of the Rainiers (11-4), in their second road trip of the 2024 season. Reno encountered difficulties solving Tacoma's pitching staff for much of the series, dropping five of the six matchups and being outscored 25 to 46.

Reno secured their sole victory of the series on Saturday, clinching a narrow 8-7 comeback win. Jordan Montgomery struggled in his second start with the Aces, allowing seven runs on nine hits in just 3.2 innings. However, the Aces bullpen, featuring Chris Rodriguez, Austin Pope, Andrew Saalfrank, and Justin Martinez, delivered five scoreless innings, providing an opportunity for their team to rally.

The offense came to life on Saturday night, with Andres Chaparro igniting the Aces' scoring with a 3-run homer to left field in the fourth inning, narrowing the gap between the Aces and the Rainiers. In the eighth inning, the BLC-Nine completed a seven-run comeback, spurred by a clutch 2-run single from Jancarlos Cintron, lifting Reno to their first road trip win.

Despite underperforming and dropping five games to Tacoma, several members of Reno's bullpen had a productive series.

Brandon Hughes appeared in three games (4.2 IP), allowing no runs and surrendering only one hit and two walks while striking out six. The former Chicago Cub has maintained a flawless 0.00 ERA through 6.2 innings of work this year.

Dakota Chalmers continued his impressive start to the season, appearing twice for the Aces and allowing just one walk with no runs or hits while recording five strikeouts. The right-hander has maintained a perfect 0.00 ERA across five scoreless innings in 2024.

Reno will travel to Salt Lake to take on the Bees, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, in a six-game set beginning on Tuesday, April 16. The series opener's first pitch is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. PT.

Following a two-week road trip to Tacoma and Salt Lake, the Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field on Tuesday, April 23, to play the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, in a six-game series.
