Aces Collide with Aviators in Final Silver State Diamond Challenge

After a four-game series with the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, the Reno Aces head to Sin City for a six-game road tilt against the Las Vegas Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, in the final Silver State Diamond Challenge of the 2022 season.

SCOUTING LAS VEGAS

The Aviators recently hosted the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, and took two out of the six games.

Matt Davidson is tied for the lead in the Pacific Coast League with 31 homers and is hitting .340 with 18 homers and 36 RBI at home.

One of Las Vegas’ hottest hitters this month is Nate Mondou, hitting .370 in September with 12 RBI in 11 games.

Aaron Brown has been solid out of the Aviators’ bullpen with a 7-4 record, 4.96 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched.

ACES HIGH

The Aces have won three-straight series against the Aviators and own a 17-7 record against Las Vegas. The Aces took four out of six games in their most recent series against Las Vegas. Seth Beer hit .375 (9-for-24) in six games with three RBI, five doubles and four runs scored. Out of the bullpen, Mitchell Stumpo was lockdown with three scoreless innings, allowed one hit, three walks and fanned three batters while earning a save.

In their series against Sacramento, Leandro Cedeno swung a hot bat and hit .313 (5-for-16) with his first Triple-A home run, six RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base in four games.

In four games, Dominic Fletcher batted .357 (5-for-14) against Sacramento with an extra-base hit, four runs scored and extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Camden Duzenack started three games against Sacramento and hit .300 (3-for-10) with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. The utility man is hitting .318 in September with a homer and nine RBI in 12 games.

Deyni Olivero earned his first Triple-A win Friday with 5.2 innings of two-run ball, allowed five hits, two walks and no strikeouts.

In a tough-luck loss, Brandon Pfaadt registered a quality start Sunday with six innings of two-run ball on nine hits, one walk and six strikeouts. The right-hander has fanned 32 batters in 25.0 innings pitched this month.

Tyler Holton was nails out of the bullpen with three scoreless innings, allowed one hit, no walks in four strikeouts and earned his fourth win in one relief appearance.
