Round Rock, Tex. The Reno Aces (20-21) fell to the Round Rock Express (22-18) in an 8-2 defeat on Wednesday at Dell Diamond. Reno tallied 12 hits in the contest but could only plate two runs.

Jose Herrera delivered in the clutch for Reno, coming through in the eighth inning with an RBI single to score Kolten Wong and tie the game. However, Round Rock exploded for six runs in the bottom half to give them a late advantage which Reno could not come back from.

Cristian Mena took a no-decision after limiting Round Rock to two runs, both of which came off solo home runs from Derek Hill and Andrew Knapp, on six hits and one walk through 5.0 innings, he punched four. The 21-year-old now owns a 3.80 ERA and 45:23 K:BB through nine starts this season.

Andres Chaparro and Albert Almora Jr. continued to swing hot bats at the plate, each tallying three hits in the contest. Both players rank atop the leaderboard in hits in the Pacific Coast League, with Almora Jr. claiming the top spot with 55 hits, while Chaparro closely follows in second place with 53 hits.

Reno will look to jump back into the win column in Thursday’s matchup against the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PT at Dell Diamond.
