Reno, Nev. – The Reno Aces (5-4) will travel to Tacoma to face the Rainiers (6-3), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, beginning on Tuesday, April 9, for a six-game series.

Tacoma won the series against Reno in 2023, going 13-11 in 24 games. The two clubs will meet 27 times this season, with 12 games at Greater Nevada Field. This past week, Tacoma won the series against Salt Lake City, winning four out of six games. They will host the Aces for their second home series of 2024.

The Rainiers roster features two prospects in the top 15 from the Seattle Mariners Organization: outfielder Jonatan Clase and middle-infielder Ryan Bliss.

According to the MLB Pipeline, Clase, the #10 overall prospect in the Mariners system, made his Triple-A debut this season and sports a .286/.375/.381 stat line. In 2023, Clase spent time with the High-A Everett Aquasox and Double-A Arkansas Travelers, where he slashed a combined .242/.353/.449 with 20 home runs, 56 extra-base hits, and 68 RBI.

The Mariners' #12 overall prospect, Ryan Bliss, was one of the many pieces involved in the trade between the Diamondbacks and the Mariners that sent Paul Seawald to Arizona last year. The speedster played with Reno for 13 games last season, accumulating a .196/.274/.357 with one home run and four RBI before being traded. However, he showcased a .304/.378/.524 stat line throughout the entire 2023 season.

Reno enters the series against Tacoma following a split series vs the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Aces fell in the first three games but adjusted nicely in the second half, taking the final three games. Kyle Garlick notched five extra-base hits and accumulated 12 RBIs for the Aces in their first home series. He will look to continue his powerful run in Tacoma.

Aces starter Cristian Mena is off to an incredible start in 2024. He is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA and eight strikeouts through 11.0 innings pitched. This past series against Sacramento, the right-hander allowed one run in six innings pitched with two strikeouts, helping Reno win their first home game of the year. The 21-year-old has yet to face the Rainiers in his career, so expect to see him in this series and continue his hot start.

The six-game series begins Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. PT at Cheney Stadium.
