Reno, Nev. – After securing the series against the Salt Lake Bees at home this past week, the Reno Aces (28-29) will travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Pacific Coast League rivals, Tacoma Rainiers (30-27), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, for a six-game series.

Reno and Tacoma have previously faced off 12 times this season, with each club hosting a six-game series. The Rainiers hosted the Aces in their first meeting and were dominant, taking five out of six. However, Reno had the upper hand in their second series. Held at Greater Nevada Field, the Aces took the series after coming away with four wins.

Notable players on the Rainiers’ roster include Cade Marlowe and Tyler Locklear.

Marlowe, an outfielder for the Rainiers, has been a threat on the bases this season, snagging 28 stolen bases tied for the lead in the Pacific Coast League, only behind Mariner’s teammate Ryan Bliss. The 26-year-old has been a problem for Reno this season, slashing .220/.360/.537 with four home runs, nine RBI, eight walks, and six stolen bases in 59 plate appearances against the Aces.

Tyler Locklear, the #8 overall prospect in the Mariners organization, recently made his Triple-A debut in the Rainiers’ previous series against the Sacramento River Cats. Through six games with Tacoma, the first baseman has gone 7-for-23 (.304) with a triple and an RBI. The former 2nd round pick earned his promotion to Tacoma after slashing .291/.401/.532 with eight home runs and 26 RBI in 188 plate appearances with Double-A Arkansas.

Reno is coming off a commanding series victory over the Salt Lake Bees. Adrian Del Castillo continued to showcase why he is one of the best pure hitters in the PCL, going 12-for-26 (.462) with six doubles and one home run with five RBI. The backstop is leading the PCL in hits (70), doubles (22), slugging percentage (.612), and total bases (126).

Kyle Garlick turned it on against Salt Lake, leading the Aces with seven RBI while collecting nine hits including three home runs and two doubles. The power hitter leads the Aces in home runs with 13, tied for 2nd in the PCL, and RBI with 46.

Andres Chaparro has been an issue for Tacoma this season, slashing .349/.451/.674 with two doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, and seven walks in 51 plate appearances against the Rainiers. Chaparro should enjoy another productive series as he has shown no signs of slowing down after going 8-for-24 (.333) with four extra-base hits, including one home run and four RBI this past week vs Salt Lake.

The Aces will return to Greater Nevada Field for a six-game set against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The series will begin on Tuesday, June 11, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
