Express Even Series With 7-6 Win Over Dodgers on Wednesday

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (68-57) snagged a 7-6 victory over the Oklahoma City Dodgers (72-53) on Wednesday night at Dell Diamond to tie the series at one game apiece.

Express RHP Daniel Robert (2-3, 6.10) earned the win with a hitless 0.1-inning performance out of the bullpen that saw a lineout. Dodgers RHP Carson Fulmer (6-6, 3.18) went home with a blown-save loss after allowing the game-winning run to score during his 0.2-inning relief outing. Round Rock RHP Nick Snyder claimed his second save of the season with a three-strikeout frame in the ninth.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • After both teams struggled to get the offense cooking through the first four frames, Dodgers C Hunter Feduccia led the fifth inning off with a double. SS Jake Amaya then hit a 404-foot home run to give Oklahoma City a 2-0 lead.
  • The Express responded with a five-spot in the fifth inning. SS Ryan Dorow walked before C Matt Whatley doubled to put runners in scoring position. After a walk for CF Josh Smith loaded the bases, LF Nick Solak sent Dorow and Whatley home with a double. 3B Josh Jung singled to score Smith and Solak before an Andy Ibáñez triple added another and increased the lead to 5-2.
  • The Dodgers got back to business in the sixth when 3B Edwin Ríos hit a leadoff single and RF James Outman drew a walk to put two men on. LF Jason Martin cleared the bases with his 30th home run of the year and tied the game at five apiece.
  • Oklahoma City jumped back ahead in the seventh inning. CF Drew Avans walked and advanced to second base on a balk then third on a wild pitch. After 2B Michael Busch walked, Outman grounded out and Avans scored to put the Dodgers in front, 6-5.
  • The Express powered through the eighth as they took over for a 7-6 lead. RF Sandro Fabian worked a one-out walk before PH Yohel Pozo came to the plate with two outs and knocked a double that scored his teammate. Pozo reached third on a Dodgers error on the play and scored thanks to a Smith single.
  • Round Rock took its 7-6 lead into the ninth frame where RHP Nick Snyder closed the game out with three straight strikeouts to secure the win.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • Express LF Nick Solak and 3B Josh Jung recorded the team’s two mulit-hit and multi-RBI performances. Solak finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI, two doubles, one walk and one run scored while Jung went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored.
  • Starter RHP Yerry Rodriguez and RHP Kyle Cody combined to throw 4.0 shutout innings to start Wednesday night’s contest. Both hurlers allowed one hit each while Rodriguez walked two batters and struck out one and Cody recorded two K’s.

Next up: Round Rock and Oklahoma City prepare for game three of the series at Dell Diamond on Thursday night, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. Dodgers RHP Bobby Miller (1-0, 3.55) gets the start as Express RHP Tyson Miller (3-6, 4.80) takes the mound.
