ROUND ROCK, Texas – Welcome to The Show, Cole! The Texas Rangers announced that the club added Round Rock Express RHP Cole Winn to their 26-man roster on Sunday afternoon. Winn went on to make his Major League debut against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park.

In Sunday’s 8-5 loss to the Astros, Winn entered in relief and threw 1.2 scoreless innings for the Rangers while recording one strikeout. He became the first Texas pitcher to finish a game in his Major League debut since Nick Snyder did so on August 21, 2021 at Boston, and the fourth reliever in club history to face five or more batters and retire each of them in a Major League debut.

Winn has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Express after first making his Triple-A debut over two games in September of 2021. He spent the entirety of 2022 and 2023 with Round Rock and opened the 2024 campaign with the club. In 63 games with the E-Train, including 43 starts, Winn has thrown to a 19-16 record and 6.68 ERA (176 ER/237.0 IP) while recording 239 strikeouts.

The righty made four relief appearances for Round Rock to start the season, three of which were shutout outings. In his latest showing for the Express on April 11 against Oklahoma City, Winn closed out the game with one inning that saw two strikeouts and one flyout.

Winn finds himself all over the Express record books and currently sits in the Top 10 for multiple Triple-A career pitching records, including wins (19, 5th), strikeouts (239, 6th), innings pitched (234.0, 7th) and starts (43, 9th). Following the 2021 season, Winn was named the Texas Rangers Nolan Ryan Pitcher of the Year.

The Longmont, Colorado native was selected 15th overall in the 2018 MLB Draft out of Orange Lutheran High School in California. Winn became the Rangers’ fourth former first-round selection to make his debut during the 2024 season after former Express players OF Wyatt Langford, INF Justin Foscue and INF Davis Wendzel have all seen their first career Major League action this season.

Round Rock and Sugar Land are scheduled to begin their six-game series at Constellation Field tomorrow night, April 16, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Space Cowboys RHP Misael Tamarez (1-0, 5.93) is scheduled to take the mound against an Express pitcher to be determined.
