Round Rock Comeback Falls Short as Salt Lake Snaps Nine-Game Losing Streak

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah - BOX SCORE HOW IT HAPPENED: Salt Lake jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. After a solo homer for 2B Christian Moore made it 1-0, a walk for DH Niko Kavadas and a double for 1B J.D. Davis brought LF Chad Stevens up.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Salt Lake jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. After a solo homer for 2B Christian Moore made it 1-0, a walk for DH Niko Kavadas and a double for 1B J.D. Davis brought LF Chad Stevens up. He singled and scored Moore as an error by LF Trevor Hauver allowed a second run to score on the play and it was 3-0 as Stevens advanced to second. He scored when RF Tucker Flint singled to give the Bees a 4-0 advantage.

Salt Lake continued their offensive production in the third inning when they scored seven times on seven hits. The seven runs came in on a Stevens double, a single for Flint, a three-run homer for C Sebastian Rivero and a wild pitch along with an error.

Round Rock scored their first run of the night in the fourth inning when SS Alan Trejo drilled his second homer of the year to make it an 11-1 game. The Express struck for four runs in the sixth. A two-run homer for LF Trevor Hauver cut the lead to 11-3. Later in the frame, CF Michael Helman doubled to score two more and made it an 11-5 game.

The E-Train scored three more times in the eighth inning. After walks for Trejo and C Tucker Barnhart, Helman delivered another double to score a run and it was 11-6. A single for 3B Richie Martin scored another run as RF Dustin Harris made it an 11-8 game on an RBI groundout. Round Rock threatened in the ninth but fell short, 11-8.

E-TRAIN EXCERPTS:

ALAN IS ON IT: Round Rock SS Alan Trejo finished 1-for-2 with a home run, an RBI, three runs scored, two walks and a strikeout. Since he re-signed a minor league contract with the Rangers on May 27, he is slashing .308 (8-26)/.400/.615/1.015 with two doubles, two home runs, four RBI, 10 runs scored, three walks and 10 strikeouts in seven games.

BIG MAYO: Express CF Michael Helman finished 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI, one run scored and one walk. Helman has four extra-base hits in his last five games.
