Express Dominant In 8-3 Win Over Space Cowboys

Round Rock Pushes Winning Streak to 11 Games After Saturday Victory Over Sugar Land

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Round Rock Express (27-17 | 71-47) defeated the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (14-30 | 47-72) by a final score of 8-3 at Constellation Field on Saturday night. Round Rock has won 11 consecutive games and tied their longest winning streak since becoming a Triple-A club

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Round Rock Express (27-17 | 71-47) defeated the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (14-30 | 47-72) by a final score of 8-3 at Constellation Field on Saturday night. Round Rock has won 11 consecutive games and tied their longest winning streak since becoming a Triple-A club in 2005.

Round Rock starter LHP Cody Bradford (9-2, 3.24) earned the win after 6.0 scoreless innings that saw three hits and eight strikeouts. Sugar Land starter LHP Colton Gordon (1-1, 6.23) walked home with the loss after allowing five runs on six hits, including three home runs. He walked three and struck out three in 5.0 innings.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • A pair of Round Rock home runs had the visitors up 3-0 after the first frame. 2B Josh Harrison led off with a solo shot and 2B Justin Foscue smacked a two-run home run after 3B Davis Wendel had reached via a single.
  • The Express lead reached five in the fourth inning. SS Jonathan Ornelas singled with one out and was driven in after RF Sandro Fabian recorded the third E-Train home run of the night.
  • Round Rock added two more in the seventh inning after a single from C Sam Huff and a walk for Foscue set up CF Elier Hernandez. His two-RBI double made it a 7-0 game.
  • The scoring picked up again in the eighth inning after Express LF Dustin Harris drew a walk. 1B Blaine Crim belted the 11th pitch of the at bat and extended the lead to 8-0.
  • Sugar Land got on the board in the eighth inning after DH Marty Costes tripled to score a run. LF Michael Brantley singled in another run later in the frame to make it an 8-2 game. RF Bligh Madris singled and a throwing error on Ornelas allowed another run to cross the plate as Round Rock led 8-3.
  • Express RHP Ian Kennedy retired all three batters he faced in the ninth inning and the 8-3 score stood final.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • The Express have won 11 consecutive games. They are two wins shy of tying the longest winning streak in franchise history. The 13-game winning streak from May 19-31, 2004 is the longest in club history.
  • Express LHP Cody Bradford posted his first scoreless outing with Round Rock since May 9 against Oklahoma City and his fifth scoreless appearance this season. He also struck out a season-high eight batters.
  • Express 1B Blaine Crim led the offense with a three-hit night and put the 10th E-Train hit on the board in the eighth inning. Crim finished the night 3-for-5 with one RBI, which was good for his 31st multi-hit game this season.

Next up: The Express will face the Space Cowboys in the series finale at Constellation Field on Sunday. A Round Rock pitcher to be announced will face Sugar Land RHP Ronel Blanco (4-2, 4.50). First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. CT.
