ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (29-17 | 73-47) earned a 9-6 victory in the series opener against the Salt Lake Bees (19-26 | 56-63) after a walk-off win at Dell Diamond on Tuesday night. Round Rock has now won 13 consecutive games, which ties the club’s longest winning streak.

Round Rock reliever RHP Marc Church (5-0, 3.07) earned the win after tossing 1.2 hitless innings that saw three strikeouts. Salt Lake reliever LHP Eric Torres (0-1, 10.62) went home with a blown-save loss after giving up four runs, two of which were earned, on three hits with one walk and one strikeout in 1.2 innings.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Salt Lake got on the board in the first inning after CF Jordyn Adams doubled then scored after a throwing error allowed 2B Davis Fletcher to reach.
  • Round Rock took a 2-1 lead after 1B Blaine Crim smacked a two-RBI single to score 3B Josh Harrison and DH Davis Wendzel after they had reached via a hit-by-pitch and a double, respectively.
  • The lead did not last long as the Bees went up 3-2 in the fourth inning when 1B Jared Walsh sent a two-run home run over the right field wall.
  • Bees extended their lead to 4-2 after singles from LF Orlando Martinez, RF Brett Phillips and 2B David Fletcher, accompanied by a fielding error plated the insurance run.
  • Express 1B Blaine Crim tied the game at four with his 16th home run of the season in the bottom of the seventh after Wendzel drew a walk.
  • In the ninth inning, Round Rock LHP Jake Latz worked around a leadoff walk to keep the game at 4-4 but the Express went 1-2-3 in the home half to send the game to extra innings.
  • With the extra-inning inherited runner on second to start the 10th, SS Jack Lopez lined an RBI single to center with two out to put the visitors in front 5-4. In the home half, Round Rock’s inherited runner scored on a fielding error to tie the game at 5-5.
  • In the 11th, Adams singled in Martinez, who started the frame on second for the Bees, to take a 6-5 lead. For the Express, Harrison sent Harris home to make it a 6-6 game.
  • Round Rock RHP Marc Church notched two strikeouts in the top of the 12th and held the Bees scoreless. Foscue was hit by pitch, which had two runners on for RF Sandro Fabian, who walked it off with a three-run home run secured the 9-6 final.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • The Express have now tied the franchise record with 13 straight wins and have the longest active win streak in all of professional baseball. The club’s longest previous winning streak of 13 was set from May 19-31, 2004.
  • Round Rock 1B Blaine Crim led the E-Train offensively, recording his third four-hit game of the season after going 4-for-5 with one walk, three singles, a home run, which tied the game in the seventh inning, four RBI and two runs scored. He now has recorded the team’s most four-hit games this season.
  • After Tuesday’s victory in the 12th inning, the Express are 6-2 in extra innings during the 2023 campaign and have eight wins that have been decided in the final at-bat.

Next up: The Express will take on the Bees in game two of the series at Dell Diamond on Wednesday, with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Round Rock RHP Owen White (1-1, 5.53) is scheduled to face off against Salt Lake LHP Kenny Rosenberg (7-7, 4.95).
