Kroenke Hangs Tough in Senators' Loss

Leonida, Sanchez and Keyes record doubles on Sunday
August 17, 2014

The New Britain Rock Cats finished off a four-game sweep of the Harrisburg Senators with a 7-2 win on Sunday afternoon at New Britain Stadium.

Zach Kroenke fired five solid innings in which he allowed just two runs despite being on only three days of rest. Colin Bates completed a scoreless sixth inning. However, in the seventh, New Britain tagged Bates for five runs (three earned) on three hits. Robert Benincasa finished off the ballgame with a 1-2-3 eighth inning.

Adrian Sanchez provided the first sign of offense for Harrisburg by hitting the left-centerfield wall in the air for his sixth double of the season. Cole Leonida led off the seventh inning with a double of his own, and later came around to score on an RBI fielder's choice by Cutter Dykstra. Kevin Keyes then chased Dykstra around from first with an RBI double down the left field line.

The Senators are off tomorrow and will return home to start the final homestand of the season, a six-gamer at Metro Bank Park. Harrisburg will face off against Portland on Tuesday night beginning at 7:00 p.m.
