Long Balls By Bloxom and Hood Not Enough in 6-5 Loss

June 4, 2013

Harrisburg, PA- Justin Bloxom and Destin Hood each homered, but the Harrisburg Senators dropped a heart-breaker 6-5 to the Bowie Baysox on Tuesday night at Metro Bank Park, in the opener of a three-game series.

Henry Urrutia went 4-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs to lead the Baysox, but it was Steve Bumbry's ninth inning solo shot that was the difference. Bumbry led off the ninth, with the game tied 5-5, by launching one into right field for his third long ball of the season.

After Bowie scored three runs in the top of the first, the Sens bounced back with two in the bottom half, highlighted by Justin Bloxom's RBI single.

Bloxom's two-run home run in the third gave Harrisburg its first lead of the game. His three-RBI night put him at 33 on the season, which leads the team. Hood followed with a solo blast in the fourth to make it 5-3. The Senators had several opportunities late, including a pair of one out doubles in the sixth and eighth, but couldn't come up with the big hit.

Harrisburg's Matt Grace pitched two and two-thirds shutout innings in his Double-A debut for the Senators. Neil Holland tossed a perfect eighth inning and struck out two.

On Wednesday, the Senators continue their three-game series at Metro Bank Park against the Bowie Baysox. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
