Van Ostrand and Goodwin Go Yard, Hill Dazzles in AA Debut

June 26, 2013

Harrisburg, PA - Jimmy Van Ostrand and Brian Goodwin each blasted three-run homers, and Taylor Hill pitched seven strong innings in his Double-A debut to lead the Harrisburg Senators to an 11-2 victory over the Akron Aeros, securing a three-game series sweep at Metro Bank Park. It was the first time the Senators have swept Akron since June 24-26, 2005, a series that also took place in Harrisburg.

Van Ostrand's shot, his fifth of the season, highlighted a four-run first inning. Goodwin's, his sixth of the year, sparked a four-run sixth.

Hill surrendered just four hits and the lone Akron run in his seven innings of work, after being called up from High-A Potomac yesterday. The right-hander walked one and struck out four.

Goodwin led the Senators with three hits on the day. Destin Hood and Sean Nicol each delivered a pair of singles. Six of the nine starters had a run batted in. Steven Souza, Jr., Hood, Jose Lozada, and Nicol all drove in one.

Tomorrow, the Senators travel to Bowie to open a four-game series against the Baysox. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
