Bridwell's Gem Leads Shorebirds' 2-0 Win

Parker Bridwell has won three of last four starts

Salisbury, MD - Delmarva Shorebirds (2-1) starter Parker Bridwell held the Asheville Tourists (1-2) scoreless over 6.2 innings to lead the Shorebirds to a 2-0 win on Saturday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

Bridwell has lowered his ERA from 6.22 to 5.04 over his last two outings. 

The Shorebirds cracked the scoreboard first in the fourth inning. Torsten Boss reached on a line drive single just out of the reach of the right fielder. Steel Russell followed with a single to right-center to advance Boss to third. With two outs, Adrian Marin doubled off the base of the left field wall to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 lead. 

In the sixth, the Shorebirds tacked on a second run. With two outs, Connor Narron tripled to deep right-center field. Then, Adrian Marin hit a flare single to left-center field to score Narron.

Shorebirds starter Parker Bridwell lasted 6.2 innings. He yielded seven hits and no runs. Bridwell fanned seven batters and walked just one. Over his last two outings, Bridwell has allowed just ten hits and one run in 14.2 innings. He has 17 strikeouts to just one walk during the stretch.

Ashur Tolliver entered with two outs in the seventh and held the Tourists hitless over the final 2.1 innings to earn his first save of the season.

The Shorebirds and Tourists play the series finale on Sunday, June 23 at 5:05pm. RHP Mark Blackmar is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
