Holidays are a home run in Executive Club

Book your holiday party at Perdue Stadium
August 27, 2013

The Holiday season and baseball don't usually go together, as the celebration of one is considered the off-season of the other.

But Alyssa Dooyema, the Business Development Executive with the Delmarva Shorebirds, and manager of all special events at the stadium, would argue that the two make for a good team at The Executive Club - the restaurant inside Arthur W. Perdue Stadium, the home of the Delmarva Shorebirds, at 6400 Hobbs Road in Salisbury, Maryland.

During the baseball season, the 2,400-square-foot venue usually fills up quickly with fans watching the Shorebirds playing on the field through the restaurant's dramatic 3rd floor view.

However weekends in December are already filling up with holiday parties looking to treat employees, friends, church groups and others to the restaurant's holiday menus.

"The great thing about our facilities at the Executive Club is Chef Ray (Pettis) will be able to customize any menu, and Cathy (Horn) has over 15 years of catering experience" said Alyssa, referring to the restaurant's executive chef, Ray Pettis, and General Manager of Ovations Food Services, Cathy Horn.

Ovations Food Services is the exclusive caterer of the Executive Club and Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and have been providing unique and delicious catering services to the Shorebirds since 2001.

This year's holiday menus focus on Italian, barbeque, traditional holiday fare, and of course Eastern Shore favorites. The general holiday menus were created to be as broad as possible to cover as many holiday celebrations as possible.

Holiday parties and banquets as small as 30 people or as large as 150 are encouraged to set up their event by calling the Shorebirds at least two weeks in advance. Holiday parties will include festive decorations provided by the Executive Club, and the restaurant is fully customizable and can assist parties with what kind of decorations and table setups that are needed.

Also, a state-of-the-art PA system at the club will be free to use during parties. The open-concept restaurant features TV's, a movable bar as well as an available projection screen.

Other areas of the stadium can be opened up for an additional fee and is fully customizable for any holiday event.

The Executive Club is obviously a different setting than a local casino or restaurant, but the club offers something other venues can't - privacy.

"When you come to our facility, it's pretty much you (and your party) only in our facility. You have that sense of exclusivity," Alyssa said.

The backdrop of the ballpark and expansive field adds for a unique perspective, she said.

Prices are also significantly lower from the typical holiday party venues in the area. The Executive Club tends to be lower than other local venues as everything is considered out the door pricing, and no 'plus plus' is added on to the final bill.

In addition to holiday parties, the restaurant plays host to college banquets, chamber meetings, weddings, wedding receptions and special celebrations.

Like the ballpark, the restaurant works to create an inviting ambiance.

"We definitely create a warm, family atmosphere when they're here," she said.

The Executive Club will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 3. For more information or to book a holiday banquet or party, call 410-219-3112.
