With the win, the Shorebirds secured their third series win of the second half, equaling their series win total from the entire first half.

In the three game series, the Shorebirds held the BlueClaws to just 14 total hits.

In the sixth inning, the Shorebirds plated two runs. Lakewood starter Miguel Nunez issued back-to-back one out walks and was removed. With two outs and runners at first and third, Russell swung and missed at a third strike that skipped away from Lakewood's catcher, allowing Simpson to score. Then, Adrian Marin singled to center field to plate Boss, his 32nd RBI of the season.

Shorebirds left-handed reliever Lex Rutledge entered in the fifth inning and held the BlueClaws scoreless over three innings to earn the win. He struck out four batters and yielded just three hits.
