Jimenez named IL Batter of the Week

Slugger drove home 11 runs in past week

The International League today announced that Buffalo Bisons INF LUIS JIMENEZ has been named the league's "Batter of the Week" for the period From April 15-21.

Over the past week, Jimenez hit .455 (10-22) and led the International League with 11 RBI, thanks largely to a historic afternoon on Thursday. Buffalo scored a franchise modern era record 27 runs Thursday at Syracuse, led by Jimenez who went 5-7 with four singles, a homer, eight RBI and four runs scored. His 8 RBI were tied for the 2nd-most in a single game in Buffalo's modern era. Only two other International League players had eight RBI for the entire week.

Jimenez continued his strong week by guiding the Bisons to a doubleheader sweep in Lehigh Valley on Saturday. The slugger had a pair of RBI-singles in the 8-4 victory in game one. In game two, he alertly scored from first base on a sacrifice bunt to tie the game before he clubbed a two-out RBI-single for the game-winning hit in a 2-1 victory over the IronPigs.

On the season, Jimenez is hitting .356 (16-45) with three home runs and a team-high 16 RBI.
