BROOKLYN, N.Y. - 3B Nick Lorusso clobbered his first two career home runs, one of which came with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, as the Cyclones walked off the Asheville Tourists, 4-3, Sunday afternoon. The 2023 Mets 9th round pick out of Maryland took RHP Manuel Urias deep to give the 'Clones the series victory.

Lorusso was not the only Cyclone to go yard on Sunday afternoon. DH Nolan McLean crushed his second long ball of the season as well.

From a pitching standpoint, RHP Sean Reid-Foley was as effective as can be in a major league rehab outing. The righty struck out the side on 14 pitches in the top of the seventh in his first rehab outing.

Asheville began the scoring early. In the top of the 1st, a wild pitch issued by RHP Calvin Ziegler allowed C Collin Price to tap home and score.

Ziegler would depart after two strong frames, having not allowed a hit while striking out four and walking two. The righty has now tossed six hitless innings with 13 strikeout to begin the 2024 campaign.

Brooklyn's response came a few frames later in the 3rd, when Lorusso tattooed his first home run of his pro career to pull the 'Clones even.

The Tourists mustered a quick response though, courtesy of an RBI single from RF Tyler Whitaker.

In the 6th, it was Brooklyn's turn to punch back. McLean obliterated a two run shot to left to put Brooklyn in front, 3-2.

Asheville remained resilient though, as a solo shot from Price off of RHP Ben Simon tied things up in the 9th.

After a strikeout and line out to begin the bottom of the ninth, Lorusso went deep for the second time in the ball game to send the Brooklyn faithful home happy. The late inning heroics provided the Cyclones with their first walk-off home run since the 2022 season.

After the league-wide off day Monday, the 'Clones return to action on Tuesday evening against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws. First pitch is slated for 6:35 from ShoreTown Ballpark. Probable pitchers have not yet been announced.
