BROOKLYN, N.Y. (July 26, 2023) - The Brooklyn Cyclones defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Maimonides Park. With the victory, Brooklyn secured its 8th shutout victory of the 2023 campaign.

RHP Blade Tidwell secured his 8th victory of the season, tossing five shutout innings, while allowing just two hits and striking out five. With the victory, Tidwell has now been the winning pitcher of record in six of the last seven contests, with Brooklyn having won all of those games.

The Cyclones got the party started in the first, when 3B William Lugo scorched his ninth long ball of the season - a solo blast over the wall in left-center field to give Brooklyn a 1-0 lead.

The game remained 1-0 until the fifth, when Brooklyn’s offense picked up where it left off in the first. With runners on first and second and nobody out, LF Rhylan Thomas singled home Brooklyn’s second run of the day. With that base knock, Thomas increased his hitting streak to nine games.

The very next batter, CF Alex Ramírez laced a single to left, plating SS Junior Tilien to pad the Cyclones’ lead to 3-0. No runs would cross home on either side the rest of the way.

It was another dominant outing from the ‘Clones bullpen. All told, Brooklyn relievers combined for four innings of one-hit, scoreless ball. The quartet of RHP Jace Beck, RHP Dylan Hall, RHP Brendan Hardy and LHP Eli Ankeney slammed the door on Wilmington down the stretch.

The Cyclones and Blue Rocks return to action on Thursday at Maimonides Park at 7:00 p.m. RHP Jordany Ventura (0-0, 3.68) gets the nod for Brooklyn, while RHP Brad Lord (1-0, 0.00) is Wilmington’s listed probable.
