Coney Island is the undisputed Hot Dog Capital of the World. The story goes that hot dogs were first served on Coney Island in 1867 by Charles Feltman. In 1916 Nathan Handwerker opened a small stand on the corner of Surf & Stillwell that blossomed into Nathan's Famous...and the game was changed forever.
Similarly, the Cyclones are proud to once again change the game with the introduction of the 1st Annual Hot Dog Jog.
What is the Hot Dog Jog you say? Well we're glad you asked. It is a first-of-its-kind race that combines two things that should never go together...running as fast as you can and eating meat in tube form.
As part of Weenie Weekend (May 29th - May 31st), Maimonides Park will host the Hot Dog Jog on Sunday, May 31st at 9 AM. There will be two divisions for the race - The Cocktail Franks (Kids 10 - 17) and the Foot Long Weiners (Runners 18+).
Costumes are encouraged - dress as a hot dog or your favorite condiment. Bring your friends and have a blast - because at The Hot Dog Jog everyone is a WEINER.
- Open to anyone ages 10 - 17
- Runners will start near home plate and run two laps around the warning track. They will have to stop and eat a full hot dog and bun after each lap. So run a lap, eat a hot dog, run another lap, eat another hot dog - and when you finish, you're the Big Weiner!
- Contestants will receive a game ticket to the Sunday, May 31st game
- Contestants will also receive a Cyclones Foam Hot Dog Cap
- Price is $35 per entry
- Open to anyone 18 or older
- Runners will start near home plate and run four laps around the warning track. They will have to stop and eat a full hot dog and bun after each lap. So run a lap, eat a hot dog, run another lap, eat another hot dog. You do that FOUR times and when you finish, you're the Big Weiner!

- Contestants will also receive a Cyclones Foam Hot Dog Cap
- Contestants will receive two drink vouchers to be redeemed at The SandBar after the race (racers that are 21+ ONLY)
