Bisons pull away 7-4 with late offense against Norfolk

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Bisons used a late offensive surge to defeat the Norfolk Tides 7-4 on Thursday evening at Sahlen Field.

Spencer Arrighetti made his debut for the Blue Jays organization after being acquired in a trade on August 3^rd. In a Major League Rehab Assignment, he worked two and one-third scoreless innings with a strikeout. Charles McAdoo also hit his thirteenth home run of the season.

Arrighetti retired the side to start the game in the top of the first inning, striking out one.

Buffalo took a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by McAdoo that scored Brett Bateman.

Norfolk tied the game in the top of the fourth on a two-run home run by Heston Kjerstad that scored Rece Hinds.

The Bisons retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. Rudy Martin Jr. hit a sacrifice bunt that scored C.J. Stubbs, and McAdoo followed with an RBI single that scored Carlos Mendoza to give Buffalo a 4-2 lead.

Simeon Woods Richardson retired nine straight batters, working four scoreless innings with two strikeouts while allowing just one hit.

Buffalo extended their lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Yohendrick Pinango got home on a passed ball, and Willie MacIver hit a two-run RBI single that scored Josh Kasevich and Stubbs to make it 7-2.

The Tides cut into the deficit in the top of the ninth on an fielding error that brought home Reed Trimble and Kjerstad. The Bisons responded with a double play to secure the 7-4 victory.

Buffalo and Norfolk are scheduled for a 6:35 p.m. first pitch on Friday evening at Sahlen Field. Josh Stephan is slated to make his Bisons debut on the mound. Pregame coverage on The Bet 1520 AM, the Audacy app, and Bisons.com begin at 6:15 p.m.
