The National Buffalo Wing Festival is heading back to Sahlen Field, its original home located in Downtown Buffalo. After spending the past four years at Highmark Stadium, the festival will return to the home of the Buffalo Bisons – where it all started back in 2002. Wingfest, which was held at Sahlen Field for 19 years until being forced to relocate due to the pandemic will take place Labor Day Weekend on August 30-31 in 2025.
“We are beyond excited to bring the National Buffalo Wing Festival back to Sahlen Field,” said “Wing King” Drew Cerza, founder and organizer of the festival. “For nearly two decades it was the perfect backdrop for celebrating Buffalo’s signature dish. The energy, the atmosphere, intimacy of the field layout, and the connection to Buffalo’s vibrant food scene make this the ideal location moving forward. We can’t wait to welcome wing lovers from all over the world back to this historic site!”
Cerza couldn’t be more appreciative of the Buffalo Bills for opening up their field and facilities to the Wingfest for four years and allowing the tradition to continue. While riding the wave of excitement that the Bills team has generated for Buffalo, Wingfest has served as the weekend bridge between the last preseason game and the season opener.
“This is a true homecoming for the Wing Fest,” said Anthony Sprague, Buffalo Bisons general manager. “For 19 years, Sahlen Field was the place to be for wing lovers across the world. The return of this festival to its original location is a powerful reminder of how Buffalo continues to shine as a culinary destination and how much pride we take in our beloved wings. We are excited to continue our partnership with Drew and the Wingfest for years to come."
The festival will feature an incredible lineup of more than 20 local and national wing vendors, offering everything from classic buffalo wings to unique, creative takes on the iconic dish. As always, the National Buffalo Wing Festival will include live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and the much-anticipated Wing Eating Contest. Additional highlights will include wing-related competitions, a wide selection of local craft beers, and plenty of activities for people of all ages.
The festival will also continue its tradition of giving back. Through the past 23 years, over $500,000 has been donating back to local charities. Last year over 23,000 people attended from 48 different states and 26 countries. Ticket information will be available in early January.
