COLUMBIA, SC – The Fireflies five-game winning streak ended in 6-1 fashion behind an Augusta GreenJackets power surge Thursday night at Segra Park.

Jace Grady powered the majority of the scoring for the GreenJackets (8-10). He homered in the third and fourth innings, driving in three runs for Augusta. His two homers gave the GreenJackets five total blasts on the season.

The bullpen stayed hot for Columbia (11-6) though. Connor Fenlong stymied the scoring from Augusta as he spun three scoreless frames before handing the ball to Jarold Rosado. The righty kept Augusta off the board in the eighth and ninth frames. Dating back to the ninth inning of Friday’s game in Charleston, the Fireflies pen hasn’t allowed a run. That moves their streak to 17.2 innings without a run.

Augusta burst through the gates to start the game. After only 12 pitches, starter Felix Arronde (L, 2-1)had faced six hitters. In that time, he tallied a strikeout, three hits and a batter who reached on an error. At the end of the frame, Arronde threw 16 pitches and 14 registered as strikes, but two runs scored and Augusta jumped out to that 2-0 lead. He finished the night allowing six runs (five earned) across four innings.

Austin Charles got the Fireflies on the board in the bottom of the second with a lead-off knock in the bottom of the second. The homer gave Charles 16 RBI in the first 17 games of the season for Columbia.

The Fireflies longest on-base streak continued as Blake Mitchell drew a pair of walks in a hitless effort Wednesday. Mitchell has reached in all 15 games he has played since April 6. Even more impressively, he has drawn 18 free passes on the run.

Columbia continues their series with the Augusta GreenJackets tomorrow night at Segra Park at 7:05 pm. LHP Hunter Patteson (1-0, 0.64 ERA) climbs the hill for Columbia and Augusta sends RHP Garrett Baumann (1-0, 1.15 ERA) to the bump.
