FREDERICKSBURG, VA - In another wire-to-wire victory, the Delmarva Shorebirds dominated the Fredericksburg Nationals in a 12-2 win on Saturday night at the New Fredericksburg Ballpark.

The win extends the Shorebirds (8-3) winning streak to five, with all five wins in the streak coming against Fredericksburg (0-11)

It was another quick start for the Shorebirds. With one away in the top of the first, Anthony Servideo singled to center and then swiped second. After a groundout, Gunnar Henderson ripped a double into the right field corner to score Servideo and give Delmarva a 1-0 lead.

With one away in the second, Ramon Rodriguez doubled the Shorebirds lead with a solo homer to left, his first of the year, making it 2-0.

The game was blown apart at the seams thanks to a nine-run third inning for Delmarva. Servideo walked to open the frame before Mason Janvrin reached on an error, putting runners at second and third. Henderson brought them both in with a two-run single to right. Another error allowed JD Mundy to reach and pushed Henderson to second. Henderson then stole third with an error from the third baseman allowing Henderson to score while Mundy advanced to third on the play. Cristopher Cespedes brought Mundy in with an RBI groundout to shortstop. Doran Turchin rekindled the rally with a line drive single to left. Rodriguez was then hit by a pitch before Darell Hernaiz worked a walk to load the bases. Hudson Haskin was then plunked by a pitch to force in a run. Batting for the second time in the inning, Servideo ripped a single to center to score two more runs. Janvrin then dropped a single to center to reload the bases before Henderson drew a walk to force in another run. An RBI groundout from Mundy capped off the frame. All told, 14 batters came to the plate in the inning with nine scoring to make it a 11-0 Delmarva lead.

The FredNats scraped two runs back in the fourth. With one away, back-to-back walks to Allan Berrios and Jake Randa put two aboard. Jeremy Ydens then singled off the top of the left field wall to load the bases. A wild pitch then brough Berrios home before Paul Witt walked to reload the bases. Jeremy De La Rosa then scored Randa with an RBI groundout to first to bring the FredNats to within nine at 11-2.

A Mundy RBI double in the fifth extended the lead for Delmarva again at 12-2.

Back-to-back doubles from Turchin and Rodriguez plated another for the Shorebirds in the eighth to bring the game to its final of 13-2.

Zach Peek (1-0) earned the win in relief for the Shorebirds. Peek allowed two runs over three innings on one hit and three walks while striking out three.

Leif Strom (0-3) is dealt the loss for the FredNats. Strom allowed eight runs in 2.1 innings, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out one.

Houston Roth earned his first save of the year by pitching the final three innings. Roth was perfect in three frames, striking out three.

Mike Baumann made the start for Delmarva in his first rehab outing but did not factor into the decision. Baumann worked two scoreless innings, walking three and striking out two.

Five Delmarva hitters collected multiple hits, four drove in multiple runs, and three scored multiple times. Every player in the starting lineup either scored once or drove in a run. Henderson finished 3-for-5 with four runs driven in to continue his dominance in Fredericksburg while Servideo, Turchin, and Rodriguez all went 2-for-4.

The FredNats collected just one hit, a wall-ball single from Ydens in the fourth.

The Shorebirds and Nationals meet in the finale of their six-game series tomorrow, May 16, at 1:35 p.m. at the New Fredericksburg Ballpark. In a rematch of game one of the series, Jake Lyons (0-1, 13.50) goes for Delmarva against Karlo Seijas (0-1, 16.62) for the FredNats.
