SALISBURY, MD. – The Delmarva Shorebirds couldn’t work around 11 free passes issued for the second straight game as they fell to the Augusta GreenJackets, 15-4, on Wednesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

For the fifth straight home game, the Shorebirds (34-63, 13-19) saw their visitors get on the board in the first inning, as the GreenJackets (48-48, 12-18) exploded for four runs in the opening stanza.

Adam Zebrowski worked a bases loaded to open the scoring for Augusta before Conor Blair stepped up and wiped the bases clean with a three-run double, making it 4-0.

The Shorebirds cut that deficit immediately in half in the bottom of the first when Isaac De Leon clobbered a two-run homer, his seventh of the season, to make it 4-2.

The GreenJackets restored their four-run lead in the third. Blair clobbered a solo homer, his third of the year, before Geraldo Quintero drove in a run with a fielder’s choice to make it 6-2.

Francisco Floyd expanded the GreenJackets lead when he lined a two-out, two-run single in the fourth to make it 8-2.

Two more came in for Augusta in the fifth on an RBI double from Quintero before he then scored on a Brandol Mezquita sacrifice fly.

The Shorebirds cancelled out those two runs with RBI singles from Mishael Deson and Frederick Bencosme in the bottom of the fifth.

From there however, Augusta scored five unanswered to completely salt the game. Brian Klein roped an RBI double in the sixth, Blair hit his second homer of the game, a three-run shot, in the seventh, before Brandon Parker capped the scoring with a solo homer leading off the ninth, his 10th of the season, to bring the score to 15-4.

Miguel Pena (2-1) picked up the win in relief for Augusta with two shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks while striking out four.

Deivy Cruz (1-1) suffered the loss for Delmarva, allowing six runs on three hits and six walks, striking out three, in 2.1 innings.
