But the Shorebirds would rally in the seventh. With the bases loaded, Carter Young sent a pitch to the wall to plate two runs, making it a 4-3 game. With two outs in the inning, Young would score the tying run on a wild pitch to even the score at four after seven innings.
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning and two in scoring position for the Red Sox, Ederso Lira broke the tie with a two-run double to give Salem the lead back at 6-4. They'd score again on an RBI single by Lyonell James to put the Shorebirds back down by three.
They'd put the pressure on Salem in the ninth after scoring on a run on a balk, but with the tying run aboard at first, Felix Cepeda struck out Isaac Bellony to end the game with the Red Sox winning 7-5.
