*SALISBURY, MD: *The Delmarva Shorebirds (9-7) outlasted the Salem Red Sox (9-8) in another low-scoring affair on Wednesday night as the Shorebirds picked up the victory by a score of 3-1.

Delmarva registered the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning as a double-play ball off the bat of Adam Crampton scored Douglas Hodo to give the Shorebirds a 1-0 edge.

The Red Sox would come back to tie the game in the fifth as they loaded the bases on three straight walks, Miguel Bleis drove in the tying run on a sacrifice fly as Albert Feliz touched home to even the score at one.

Hits would be at a premium on Wednesday night as both teams entered the seventh with just one run on one hit.

Moises Chace led the Shorebirds with four shutout innings with six strikeouts and no hits allowed. Jose Ramirez for Salem allowed just one unearned run on one hit in his five frames on the mound.

In a 1-1 game in the bottom of the eighth inning. Delmarva put runners at first and second with two outs and with two strikes on Stiven Acevedo, he delivered in the clutch once again with a base hit into right field as Roberto Martinez scored the go-ahead run, putting the Shorebirds ahead 2-1. Samuel Basallo added an extra insurance run with an RBI single of his own as Adam Crampton touched home to push Delmarva's lead to 3-1.

In the ninth, Reese Sharp faced early trouble as a pair of one-out walks put runners at first and second. But he came back and delivered back-to-back strikeouts of Roman Anthony and Miguel Bleis to end the game, preserving a 3-1 victory for the Shorebirds.

Reese Sharp (1-0) earned his first professional victory by recording the final six outs with Caleb Bolden (1-1) taking the loss for the Red Sox.

Delmarva finished with just five hits in the game but three of them came in the eighth. Starting with Roberto Martinez who finished with a multi-hit effort, putting himself on as the go-ahead run for Stiven Acevedo who pushed him home with his two-out single. Acevedo now has three game-tying or go-ahead base hits in the eighth inning or later as he continues to deliver in clutch moments for the Shorebirds.
