*SALISBURY, MD: *The Delmarva Shorebirds (14-20) picked up their second-straight victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats (18-17) on Saturday night as they topped the Cleveland Guardians affiliate 6-3.
The Hillcats would score right away in the top of the first on a two-run double by Wuilfredo Antunez to plate both Angel Zarate and Tyresse Turner, making it 2-0 Lynchburg.
Delmarva would snatch the lead away in the bottom of the second inning with Erison Placencia scoring Adam Crampton on an RBI single. Stiven Acevedo then brought home two with a laser into left-center, scoring Brayan Hernandez and Placencia to give the Shorebirds a 3-2 advantage.
The offense for Delmarva would deliver another three-run inning in the fourth. Brayan Hernandez started the scoring with an RBI triple to plate Adam Crampton. Hernandez then scored two batters later on another run-scoring triple, this time by Luis Gonzalez to up the lead to 5-2. Gonzalez then scored on a wild pitch to cap off the inning with Shorebirds now in front 6-2.
Lynchburg would look to rally as they produced a run in the seventh to make it a 6-3 game. But the Delmarva bullpen would hold back the Hillcats for the rest of the nights as Cesar Álvarez, Ange Vargas, and Randy Berigüete would combine to cover the final 15 outs to secure a Shorebird winner as they took Saturday's matchup by a score of 6-3.
Cesar Álvarez (2-0) earned the win in relief with Randy Berigüete (1) earning his first save of the season. Lynchburg starter, Yorman Gomez (5-8) was saddled with the loss.
The Shorebirds were led by some notable offensive performers including Stiven Acevedo who reached all five times with a two-run single and four walks. The 6-9 hitters in the Delmarva batting order consisting of Adam Crampton, Brayan Hernandez, Erison Placencia, and Luis Gonzalez combined for five hits, three RBI, and scored all six runs for the Shorebirds.
