Delmarva Hurlers Dominate in Low-Scoring Affair

SALISBURY, MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds (6-19) earned their third consecutive victory over the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (15-11) on Saturday night by a final score of 3-1.

Delmarva grabbed a first-inning lead for the third consecutive night as Aron Estrada scored Thomas Sosa from third base on an infield single, making it 1-0 Shorebirds.

In the third, Estrada brought another run home on a groundout to second base as Cristian Benavides touched home. Moments later, Anderson De Los Santos singled up the middle to bring home Sosa, giving Delmarva a 3-0 advantage after three.

Starting pitcher, Nestor German, delivered another gem on the mound as he fired 4.2 innings, striking out a new career-high 8 batters, allowing just one hit and no walks.

An unearned run found its way home in the fifth for Fayetteville on a wild pitch as Chase Jaworski scored, trimming Delmarva's lead to 3-1.

In the sixth, Braxton Bragg entered the game and silenced the Woodpeckers' offense, allowing just one base runner in his four innings on the mound, punching out five, and securing a 3-1 victory for the Shorebirds.

Braxton Bragg (1-0) earned his first win with starting pitcher Jackson Nezuh (0-3) taking the loss for the Woodpeckers.

Delmarva will go for their first series victory on Sunday with Trey Gibson getting the start for the Shorebirds versus left-hander, Colby Langford for the Woodpeckers. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.
