FRISCO, Texas (April 14, 2024) – The Frisco RoughRiders defeated the Corpus Christi Hooks 10-2 on Sunday evening at Riders Field, taking five of the six games in the series.

Frisco (7-2) starter Nick Krauth (1-0) shined in Sunday’s series finale, allowing just one run to the Hooks (1-8) on four hits and no walks while striking out three across 6.0 innings. It was the first quality start by a RoughRiders pitcher on the season.

The Riders found the scoreboard in the first inning on an RBI single by Josh Hatcher that plated Liam Hicks. Corpus Christi starter Tyler Guilfoil (0-2) settled in after the frame, spinning 4.1 innings of two-run baseball.

The Hooks then tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third on a leadoff homer from Chad Stevens.

Aaron Zavala led off the fifth for the Riders with a walk and, two batters later, Rangers rehabber Nathaniel Lowe blasted a 411-foot, two-run homer to put Frisco ahead 3-1.

In the sixth, a Frainyer Chavez base hit brought Cody Freeman around to score, extending the Riders lead to 4-1. Freeman collected three hits on the day.

In the visiting portion of the eighth inning, C.J. Stubbs mashed a solo homer to bring Corpus back within two, but the RoughRiders went on to score six runs in the bottom of the frame, sealing the win.

Frisco sent 11 batters to the plate in the eighth, using three hits and five free passes to extend their lead to 10-2. Freeman and Maximo Acosta each doubled in the inning.

Andy Rodriguez tossed a scoreless ninth inning with a pair of punchouts to secure the series finale win.

Offensively, the RoughRiders tallied 11 hits and saw three multi-hit performances. Kellen Strahm swatted a pair of doubles while Freeman and Hatcher poured in three-hit days.

Next, the RoughRiders hit the road for a six-game series with the Seattle Mariners affiliated Arkansas Travelers at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16th. RHP Ryan Garcia (0-0, 9.00) will take the mound for Frisco against LHP Raúl Alcantara (0-0, 4.15) for the Travelers.
